Apollo urges raw materials suppliers to ‘go green’

Tire maker holds global partners’ summit focusing on the increased use of recycled and renewable materials
Gurugram, India — Apollo Tyres has urged its raw materials suppliers to take a pledge “to pursue ‘go green’ agenda, ramp-up their capacities and de-risk their supply chains” as it strengthen focus on sustainability.
In a 26 July statement, Apollo said it shared its ‘sustainability procurement vision’ with suppliers during a recently held virtual global partners’ summit 2021.
The vision, it said, highlighted the tire maker’s plan for increased usage of recycled and renewable materials going forward.
The event was attended by over 700 participants from 270 organisations from 30 different countries.
As part of the summit, the Apollo Sustainability Awards 2021 were presented to Thai Eastern Group, Thailand; Oriental Carbon and Chemicals Ltd, India; and Birla Carbon, India for “being the front-runners on sustainability.”
