Among other areas, centre will focus on circular economy, digitalisation and consumer goods
Saint-Fons, France – Elkem Silicones has opened a new research and innovation centre in Saint-Fons, in Lyon's "chemical valley", the company announced 1 July.
Short for "atrium and innovation", ATRiON aims to foster synergies and collaborative research work, with a “more open, more multidisciplinary format”.
With ATRiON, Elkem Silicones said it is doubling its space dedicated to research and innovation, “with particular attention given to collaborative work.”
Spanning 7,000 square metres, the location will host collaborative research between Elkem Silicones' teams and the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region's "open innovation network".
The site houses 120 researchers, mainly working on the fields of circular economy, digitalisation, consumer goods, living comfort and new materials for energy and mobility.
"Investing in research and innovation is the best way to safeguard future growth,” said Frédéric Jacquin, SVP Elkem Silicones.
ATRiON, he said, is “fundamental to the cross-fertilisation of ideas and expertise” for developing new innovations.
