Company changes historic name to reflect shift in focus to personal protection equipment
Melksham, UK – Avon Rubber has changed the company’s trading name of over 130 years, according to a filing at UK Companies House.
As per a certificate issued at the UK’s registry of businesses, the company’s name formally changed to Avon Protection P.L.C. on 12 July.
The move was signalled in May by CEO Paul McDonald, who said the new name would reflect the shift in focus of the group’s portfolio over recent years.
Having once manufactured a wide range of rubber products, Avon now specialises in personal protection equipment, particularly for military, defence and emergency-service applications.
The Melksham-based rubber-based products manufacturer had operated under the Avon Rubber banner since 23 Dec 1890.
The company was originally founded in 1885, its manufacturing portfolio growing quite rapidly to encompass pneumatic tires, railway components, conveyor belts, sports items and dairy equipment.
