Bluestar Silicones opens new R&D centre in South Korea

Seoul – Bluestar Silicones opened a new R&D centre and announced an office relocation in Seoul, South Korea.
The new site, located in Pangyo Techno Valley, houses laboratory facilities and a technical expertise centre for the sales of release & textile coating and sealing & bonding markets – including products for electronic/energy market management.
Gerry Tan, general manager, Asia Pacific, said: “[We have] been operating in Korea since 2008 [and] our business [has experienced] rapid growth in the past five years.”
In-Jong Cho, country manager of Bluestar Silicones Korea, said: “The Korea R&D centre will provide professional researchers and scientists with collaborative tools by interfacing timely with eight Bluestar Silicones R&D centres worldwide to enhance performance.”
Bluestar Silicones serves the Korea market with its range of silicone technologies – including liquid silicone rubbers (LSRs), high consistency rubbers (HCRs), and room temperature vulcanised silicones (RTVs).
The company, a subsidiary of China National Bluestar Corp, has several production bases in China, North America and Europe, among which Xinghuo in China and Lyon in France are the two main units. Bluestar Silicones employs 3,000 people throughout the world, with a turnover of around €600 million.
