Compound series targeted towards applications that need to undergo “strict regulatory testing”
Hamburg - Albis Distribution GmbH & Co has expanded its distribution portfolio with the addition of a new TPE-S product series from Mexico-based Alphagary.
Particularly suitable for food contact, medical and dental devices and children toys, Evoprene R compound series are targeted towards applications that need to undergo “strict regulatory testing,” said Albis in a 15 June statement.
For instance, Albis said, the compound is recommended for medical devices that have testing requirements derived from Regulation (EU) 2017/745 on medical devices or USP Class VI biocompatibility requirements.
Available with Shore hardness values from A12 to A73, the compounds are characterised by a “good reset behaviour and excellent resistance to different media,” according to Albis.
In terms of processing, the materials “behave like rubber but flow like thermoplastics when exposed to heat and pressure.”
Typical applications for TPE-S compounds are syringe plugs, caps and seals as well as connectors and dental applications, said Mike Freudenstein, director of global marketing healthcare & industry management at Albis.
Formerly Mexichecm Speciality Compounds, Alphagary specialises in polymer compounds such as PVC, TPE, olefin, and urethane.
The group has production footprint in Mexico, US, UK and Colombia.
