Laatzen facility to feature “the world's most modern extrusion R&D centre”
Hanover, Germany – German machinery supplier KraussMaffei Group is merging its corporate extrusion operations at its new site in Laatzen, near Hanover, in a bid to drive efficiency.
Scheduled for second half of 2020, the move will see KraussMaffei relocating its entire extrusion division to the new plant, which will feature “the world's most modern extrusion R&D centre,” the group said in a recent statement.
The new site will accommodate all extrusion divisions from Munich and Hannover with up to 700 employees, said a 10 May statement.
The plant will have 26 extrusion lines to be used for trials, said KM, adding that the lines will be installed in "production scale", featuring all downstream equipment such as cooling section, take-off system, winder and separating system.
Furthermore, the site's R&D centre will offer direct processing solutions as well as the opportunity to trial new materials and products, said Dr Volker Nilles, EVP for new machinery business at KraussMaffei.
“Against the background of KraussMaffei’s growth plans, bundling the extrusion activities at one location is the right strategic response to current and future challenges in our industry,” he said.
The product portfolio offered by KraussMaffei Group covers almost all extrusion technologies, including rubber and foam extrusion as well as recycled and compound materials.
