Rayong, Thailand – Zhongce Rubber has broken ground on tire plant No. 4 at its production plant in Rayong, as part of an ongoing expansion programme at the site.
The new unit will complete the third phase of the expansion project, which started in December 2019, as well as the manufacturer's €654 million (25 billion Thai Baht) overall investment in Thailand, ZC Rubber announced 20 May.
The new plant will have 57,700 sqm total floor area, and will complete phase three’s annual capacity of 5 million units of passenger car tires and 1.2 million units of truck and bus tires.
It will bring Zhongce’s total annual tire capacity in Thailand to 20 million unit, said the company.
The company hopes to finish the construction of the plant in 100 days, according to Zhongce Rubber (Thailand)’s general manager Chen Hua.
Zhongce started production at its Thai site in June 2015 and manufactures passenger car tires, truck and bus tires, bias industrial tires, motorcycle tires and engineering truck tires at the facility.
The site also produced its first all-terrain vehicle tire in October 2020.
