New product line part of French compounder's strategy to extend portfolio beyond PVC
Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur, France – French polymer compounder Benvic has launched a new family of thermoplastics elastomers (TPEs), designed for caps and closure markets.
The new SealCare TPE range features all necessary properties for food contact and protects food and beverages from outside environments, Benvic said in a 26 May statement.
The product line is part of Benvic’s strategy of extending its portfolio beyond polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compounds, according to Glenn Tackacs, product manager for SealCare.
“SealCare will become a leading part of our new Xtended materials product line – in addition to ProVinyl, Plantura and Medical,’ he added.
According to Benvic, the new TPE will optimise production processes and offers ‘superior material properties’ to manufacturers of closure systems.
“We have thoroughly researched SealCare with machinery makers in order to make sure that our product can we welcomed straightaway as a better material for polymer processing,’ Takacs said.
According to the company official, close collaboration with several manufacturers has proved that the material meets “both performance and cost optimisation” criteria.
The range currently consists of general purpose grades, TPE086 and TPE088 oil free, for crown cork closure liners, said Benvic without giving further details.
