Three-day online event to study trends such as new mobility, sustainable development, digitalisation and climate change
Singapore – The International Rubber Study Group (IRSG) has released the proramme for the upcoming World Rubber Summit (WRS) 2021 to be held as a virtual event on the 8-11 June.
The theme of this year's event is “Facing the future: inclusiveness, sustainability and growth for the next normal,” said IRSG in a 10 May statement to ERJ.
The event will be opened by Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani, Ivory Coast’s minister of agriculture and development; IRSG chairman Aly Toure and IRSG secretary general Salvatore Pinizzotto in the afternoon of 8 June, Singapore time. Keynote addresses will review economic recovery, sustainability and market dynamics post-crisis.
Days two and three of the event will study growing trends such as new mobility, sustainable development, digitalisation, climate change and the development of a ‘green economy’.
The sessions will also include presentations on Ivory Coast's transition to a 'leading producer and exporter' of natural rubber, and will study the challenges and opportunities ahead.
“To embrace an inclusive and sustainable recovery [from Covid], all stakeholders are called to cooperate in restructuring supply chains, implement diligent information sharing, promote green investments, capacity building and upskilling,” said the IRSG statement.
Supported by policy reforms and regulations, the recovery will drive a real change towards a more inclusive and sustainable rubber economy, the statement added.
Headquartered in Singapore, the IRSG is an intergovernmental organisation that promotes international cooperation on rubber issues and provides market analysis for the world rubber market.
