Agreement covers DACH region as well as northern and eastern Europe
Hamburg, Germany – Biesterfeld Spezialchemie and long-term partner Dow have extended their partnership to include the distribution of mouldable optical silicones, part of Dow's Silastic engineered elastomers product range.
The deal, effective immediately, covers the DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) as well as northern and eastern Europe, said Biesterfeld in a 10 May statement.
The product range can be used in industrial, retail and consumer lighting industries.
According to Biesterfeld, the product portfolio allows LED lighting to be manufactured without the limitations of traditional materials such as plastics or glass.
It offers “high flexibility even in complex shapes and geometries as well as outstanding physical properties.”
The silicone products have high resistance against heat, humidity, and UV exposure and have non-yellowing properties, Biesterfeld added.
The silicone materials, according to Marie Lührs, product manager, Biesterfeld Performance Rubber, complements the distributor’s LSR portfolio offered to the European rubber industry.
