Official state figures show continued momentum in overseas sales among Chinese manufacturers
Beijing – China exported 51 million units of ‘new rubber tires’ in March 2021, registering a 22% rise from a year ago, according to state figures.
The value of exports in March as presented in US dollars shot up 14% year on year, to $1.5 billion (€1.24 billion), said China’s General Administration of Customs.
This showed an increase from the pre-pandemic period, representing a 21% climb in volume and a 61% jump in value compared with March 2019.
Weight of tire exports in March 2021 shot up 11% from March 2020, to 650,000 tonnes.
Over the first three months of 2021, China exported 142 million units tires, up 39% year on year. Export value leapt 31% from the same period in 2020, to $3.9 billion. Volumes in tonnage rose by 31% to 1.7 million tonnes.
The country produced 83 million units of tires in March and 215 million units over the first three months of 2021, up 19% and 47% respectively from a year ago, said China’s National Bureau of Statistics.
