Association renews calls for 'unique regulatory framework' to support EU green recovery
Brussels – The European Tyre and Rubber Manufactures’ Association is adding Nexen Tire Europe, as well as the Czech Republic and Slovakia tire producers’ associations as new members, effective 2022.
Memberships of Nexen, Zsruzeni Vyrobcu Pneumatik v Ceske Republice and Zsruzenie Vyrobcov Pneumatik v Slovenskej Republike were approved by the ETRMA board on 14 April,
The additions bring the Brussels-based industry body's total membership to 15 tire manufacturers and 11 national sector associations.
The ETRMA board also discussed the EU green recovery and reaffirmed its 'strong commitment to the green deal ambitions, a digital Europe, and safer roads,' the association said in a 15 April statement.
“ETRMA is fully committed to continue collaborating with the European Commission on the policy priorities to deliver on the green and digital transitions,” it said.
The board renewed its call for an appropriate regulatory framework to support the industry and its entire supply chain in delivering the EU priorities.
“The European tire industry has been a global leader in tire performance, innovation and research, sustained by a unique regulatory framework (minimum thresholds, labelling…)” said Franco Annunziato, ETRMA’s president.
The industry, he went on to say, has the ambition “to contribute even further to increased climate change mitigation targets, tackling tire abrasion and continuing to improve road safety, whilst contributing to an increasingly circular economy.”
Commenting on the new membership additions, ETRMA secretary general Fazilet Cinaralp said the association’s “critical mass is growing.”
“Together we can create strong synergies to work even more efficiently towards a safer and greener Europe,” she added.
