Phosphite antioxidants used as drop-in substitute for TNPP in many applications
Schenectady, New York – Performance additives supplier SI Group is set to start the production of antioxidant polymer stabilisers in China to increase security of supply to its global customers.
In a 14 April statement, the US group said it expected to begin producing Weston 705 antioxidants in China by May, but did not give further details on the new location.
According to SI Group, the liquid phosphite antioxidant offers global regulatory compliance and is an “industrially proven” drop-in substitute to TNPP (tris(nonylphenyl) phosphite) in most of its applications.
The additive, said the statement, can be utilised in variety of elastomers, such as SBR, BR, NBR, SBC and EPDM, to preserve their processability, colour, and mechanical properties.
“This is a prime example of our investment in the Asia Pacific region,” said David Lu, SI Group’s VP & managing director – Asia Pacific.
“We are committed to developing leading solutions that meet our customers’ needs with the global footprint to support reliable supply.”
