Major capacity additions at Chinese tire maker’s production sites
Qingdao, Shandong – Chinese tire maker Jinyu’s Vietnam plant produced its first batch of truck and bus tires on 30 March, said the company.
The project is located at the Phuoc Dong Industrial Park in Tay Ninh province, adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City, and will be able to make 2 million unit tires annually.
The company broke ground at the site in June 2020, with the facility scheduled to enter mass production this May, said Jinyu.
The plant’s full manufacturing process will be connected and digitalised to raise the level of automation and streamline the operation as well as facilitate decision-making, it said.
The company is also planning a €32-million (250 million yuan) expansion at its existing site in Dongying, Shandong province.
The expansion project has designed annual capacity for 1.2 million unit truck and bus tires and will cover 187,000 sqm total area. It is being assessed for environmental impact, said Jinyu.
ERJ has requested further details from the company about these developments.
