Austrian group saw sharp rise in 2020 profits driven by rubber gloves segment
Vienna – Semperit AG expects earnings (EBITDA) for the full year 2021 to come in around €395 million, significantly above its 2020 levels, the Austrian group announced 15 March.
The Vienna-based group is set to publish its 2020 results on 18 March, but in an ad-hoc release in November last year, Semperit said it projected earnings to come in at €200-225 million, up from €68 million in 2019.
In its latest release, Semperit said its earnings forecast will depend, in particular, on the timely availability of raw materials and their price development, the sales prices for medical protective gloves, and sufficient logistics availability for the delivery of goods.
Semperit saw a significant increase in sales and earnings throughout 2020, helped by Covid-driven demand for its Sempermed medical gloves products and its ongoing restructuring measures.
The group delayed its planned divestment of Sempermed last year on the back of “extremely positive” contribution of the unit to the group's earnings.
