Tokyo-based chemicals group cites soaring naphtha prices as one of the reasons for hike
Tokyo – Zeon Crop. is raising global prices for thermoplastic elastomer product SIS Quintac, a polystyrene-polyisoprene block used as a base polymer for adhesives or as the main material for elastic films.
Prices for the product will increase by Yen50/kg (€0.40/kg), effective 1 April, the Japanese chemicals group announced 5 March.
“With the soaring price of naphtha, which is the main raw material, the manufacturing cost related to the maintenance and expansion of equipment to meet the increasing demand for the product is also rising,” explained the Zeon statement.
As a result, the group said, it is raising the prices in order to continue a stable supply.
