Ambitious10-year programme includes plans for acquisition of an international tire maker
Qingdao, China – Qingdao Sentury Tire Co. Ltd has announced its ‘833plus’ strategy, aiming for a total of eight manufacturing sites, three research centres and three 'customer-experience' centres within ten years.
As set out in the Chinese group's annual report, the ambitious strategy also envisages the acquisition of one international tire make by 2031.
The manufacturing expansion targets: three tire plants in China, two in Thailand and one each in Europe, Africa and North American, said the report released in February.
The Chinese tire maker currently operates a 15 million units/year plant in Jimo, Qingdao, Shandong and a site in Rayong, Thailand, with a capacity of 5 million units/year.
The three research centres will comprise one each in Europe and North America in addition to the company’s current facility in China, Sentury told ERJ.
