Latest development extends capabilities of Japanese group's Sensing Core technology
Tokyo - As well as tire pressure, tire load and road conditions, Sumitomo Rubber Industries’ Sensing Core technology can now track wear-levels on tires, the Japanese group has announced.
By monitoring the dynamic behaviour of tires via digital filtering technology, Sensing Core analyses and interprets wheel-speed signals, transmitted as tires rotate.
With the latest advance, the technology can detect tire-wear levels by calculating tread rigidity based on wheel speed signals, engine data and other vehicle information.
“This technology not only alerts drivers about the wear condition of their tires, but also allows for centralized management of tire conditions over the cloud,” noted SRI.
As such, Sensing Core holds enormous potential for future applications among mobility service and transport service providers, ensuring the overall safety of their operations while greatly reducing maintenance costs,” claimed SRI.
