Malaysia gloves maker implements “stringent” measures to protect workers at its production facilities
Kuala Lumpur – Top Glove Corp. Bhd has reopened its factories in Klang, Selangor, having put in place reinforced health & safety measures for the workforce, the company has reported.
Last November, the Malaysian gloves manufacturer announced that it had halted production at 28 facilities in the region following outbreaks for Covid-19 across the sites.
In a 4 Jan statement, Top Glove said production had now resumed, after authorities had given the green light for the reopening of the factories on 20 Dec 2020.
Safety measures now include: daily disinfection of the entire premises; sanitisation of internal areas conducted three times a day; temperature screening and availability of hand sanitisers and face masks for all employees and visitors.
Top Glove has also installed: disinfection floor mats at entrances to factories and offices; hand sanitisers in all common areas; and designated bins for the safe disposal of used PPE, added a 4 Jan company statement.
All employees and visitors are also required to wear a mask while on the factory premises, and it is compulsory for cleaning personnel to don full PPE while conducting sanitisation and disinfection.
Employees are also reminded to maintain a safe distance from others at all times, with clear social distancing markings, while staggered break times have been introduced to help prevent overcrowding.
“We are taking all steps towards ensuring stricter adherence to safety SOPs (standard operating procedures) at our factories, offices, accommodations, and vehicles,” stated Top Glove.
