Tires included in the recall were sold in the replacement market in the US and Canada
Nashville, Tennessee – Bridgestone Americas Inc. is recalling approximately 1,900 Firestone Destination LE3 and Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422 Plus passenger and light truck tires in the US and Canada because of a manufacturing anomaly that could result in air loss and eventual tire failure.
The tires being recalled may have been manufactured with a small pinhole in the upper sidewall of the tire, Bridgestone said.
In rare instances, the pinhole may penetrate the tire inner liner, causing the tire to lose air pressure slowly.
As such, tires included in this recall may not comply with US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard and/or Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard performance requirements.
If a slow air loss is undetected or ignored, Bridgestone said, the continued loss of air may increase the risk of a vehicle crash or personal injury. There are no known accidents or injuries involving tires subject to this recall.
The recall affects:
• Firestone Destination LE3 tires, size 255/60R19, manufactured between 14 June and 18 July 2020, at Bridgestone's plant in Wilson, North Carolina, with DOT plant code 1W2 and date codes 2420 to 2820 and press identification number E07L; and
• Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422 Plus tires, size P255/60R19, manufactured between 12 July and 8 Aug 2020, at the Wilson plant, with DOT plant code 1W2 and date codes 2820 to 3120 and press identification number E07L.
Tires included in this recall were sold in the replacement market in the US and Canada.
Bridgestone is notifying regulatory agencies in the US and Canada in accordance with applicable laws. B
ridgestone also is notifying known authorised Bridgestone and Firestone retailers, dealers, distributors, company-owned stores and end-user consumers who may have purchased tires included in this safety recall.
Owners of tires included in this recall are urged to contact their authorised Bridgestone or Firestone tire dealer or Bridgestone company-owned service centre to arrange for verification. Tires will be inspected to verify the tire identification number and press identification number.
All affected tires will be replaced with a comparable Firestone Destination LE3 or Bridgestone Ecopia H/L 422 Plus tire manufactured outside the production range, or with a suitable replacement tire. Tires will be replaced at no charge to customers.
