Blizzak LM005 employs high-silica Nano ProTech compound, designed to keep rubber soft at low temperatures
Brussels – Bridgestone’s flagship winter tire the Blizzak LM005 has received the highest rating in the ADAC 2020 winter tire test, the tire maker has announced.
ADAC, the largest motoring association in Europe, gave the tire “the best rating of all profiles in the test,” said the 24 Sept press statement.
In addition, the tire was named the winner in the classification of the 15 tested profiles, according to Bridgestone.
The Blizzak LM005, it added, scored highly in terms of ‘balanced performance’ on dry and snow-covered roads and handling in the wet.
The tire is moulded from Bridgestone's Nano ProTech compound, which has a high silica-content compound, designed to keep rubber soft at low temperatures.
The formulation, according to the tire maker, provides “maximum traction and optimises performance in wet and snowy conditions.”
The tire has been designed with a zig-zag groove pattern to enhance water evacuation and improve adhesion with the road.
“The synergy between these features has delivered excellent results, with the LM005 the first winter tire to achieve an EU Label ‘A’-grade in wet grip for its full line-up,” Bridgestone stated.
The tire is also claimed to be a “more sustainable choice” compared to other competitors, as it has low rolling-resistance and low noise levels.
