Part of former Dr. Noll company, unit will exclusively focus on tire industry
Hargesheim, Germany – Metorlogical solutions supplier GL Messtechnik GmbH has spun off its tire measurement unit to better cater for an anticipated rebound in the automotive and tire industries.
Part of the former Dr. Noll GmbH, the business now operates under the name GL Inspect GmbH and offers measuring systems exclusively for the tire sector.
The systems include newly developed and patented circular triangulation sensors, as well as services in the field of weld seam and hollow body inspection, said GL Messtechnik in a recent statement.
Other products also include optical measurement systems for quality control during tire production process as well as tread wear analysis.
To be led by Christian Lantzsch, GL Inspect will focus on tire measurement systems in order to meet "the constantly growing demands of the tire market," GL Messtechnik said.
In particularly, the company expects tread wear measurement to become a “more interesting” topic in coming years, due to ongoing discussions about reduction of microparticles.
“As far as we know, it is planned to also introduce a tread wear mark on the tire label,” said Lantzsch in a written statement to ERJ.
Under his leadership, Lantzsch aims to bring new ideas and products to the company.
“Our goal is to implement optical measurement applications that were previously only found on paper,” he said.
The aim, he went on to say, "is to introduce automate processes where manual measurements are currently performed."
