Suzhou, Jiangsu – Safe-Run has secured an €89 million (700 million yuan) order earlier this year to design and provide machinery for the smart logistics line of Linglong’s new tire plant in Sebia.
“Safe-Run competed against the world’s best suppliers from countries such as Finland, Korea and Japan,” said Safe-Run Machinery (Suzhou)’s chairman Zhang Yinzi in a press release 18 Sept.
“The smart logistics project is the nucleus of the Serbia plant and requires the most advanced technology.”
The plant, first in Europe by a Chinese tire maker, broke ground this March in Zrenjanin.
It has 130 hectare total planned area with 13.62 million unit annual capacity for various types of radial tires.
Safe-Run has been a long-time partner of Linglong and has supplied single stage tire building machines as well as automated production lines to its plants in Shandong, Liuzhou, Hubei and Thailand.
The smart logistics project was a hard-won battle given the market headwinds, with tire machinery orders falling short for Chinese companies this year, Zhang added.
Despite the downturn, Safe-Run is seemingly in a strong position, with €446 million worth of orders from tire makers such as Linglong ($190m is from Linglong), Giti, Nexen and Roadbot.
