Tokyo – Shin-Etsu’s silicones business has reported 17.9% year-on-year increases in first quarter earnings at Yen 15.9 billion (135 million).
Segment net sales for the three months to end of June rose 1.3% to Yen56.3 billion, Shin-Etsu reported 24 July.
Strong sales in functional products helped offset a price decline in general purpose products, the Japanese materials supplier added, without giving further details.
The company also reported impairment loss of Y3bn due to preventive maintenance conducted within its silicones operations in Thailand in February.
