Singapore – Global Rubber Industries, the Colombo, Sri Lanka-based maker of agricultural, construction and other speciality tires, has joined the panel of associates of the International Rubber Study Group (IRSG).
In a 23 July statement, IRSG welcomed GRI, praising the company’s progress over the past 17 years.
"Technological innovation, engineering strength and operational excellence have powered GRI through rapid growth to become a leader in specialty tires," ISRG said.
In January 2018, GRI opened a specialty tire plant in Colombo, with capacity for agricultural tires as well as fork lift and construction tires.
Within the first year of production, GRI had introduced and released 100 unique tire sizes.
In addition to being the largest tire plant in Sri Lanka, IRSG noted that GRI's Colombo plant is “an example of forward-thinking sustainability practices”, which include the installation of rooftop solar panels.
The plant also is certified ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, and recently was accredited with the ISO 50001 energy management certification.
