Dundee, Scotland – Michelin-Scotland Innovation Parc (MSIP) partners have appointed John Reid as the chief executive officer of the newly-established joint venture, with immediate effect.
Concurrently serving as the manager of Michelin’s tire factory in Dundee, Reid is tasked to spearhead the plans to create a "flagship innovation centre" on the site of the factory at Baldovie, MSIP said in a 16 July statement.
The tire production plant is set for closure by mid-2020, to be replaced by the innovation centre.
“As Michelin production runs down towards June 2020, MSIP activity will be ramping up,” said Reid upon accepting the position.
The joint venture is a partnership between Michelin, Scottish Enterprise and Dundee City Council to repurpose the Baldovie tire factory to focus on sustainable-mobility and low-carbon energy developments.
Reid joined Michelin Dundee in 1992 as a production manager. He served in various personnel and operations management positions, before he was appointed as the general manager of the plant in 2009.
