Hamburg, Germany – Biesterfeld is to manage distribution of fluoroelastomers (FKM) from Solvay Specialty Polymers, effective August this year.
The deal will cover distribution across the UK and Ireland, plus Europe, Russia and Brazil, the German distributor announced 9 July.
The FKM polymers, sold under the Tecnoflon brand, are characterised by high chemical resistance to various substances, including fuels, lubricants, oils and solvents.
Generally used in the automotive sector for production of hoses and seals, including O-ring seals for fuel lines and injection systems, the polymer offers high thermal resistance at temperatures above 200°C.
The products offer good long-term sealing and a low compression set and are also used for applications in the aerospace and the oil and gas industries.
“With TecnoflonFKM, we are pleased to be able to offer our customers technically refined, high-quality products from market leader Solvay," said Joern Thomsen, product manager for specialty polymers, Biesterfeld Performance Rubber.
