UK injection moulder invests in rubber granulator
Wrexham, UK – Rubber & plastics injection moulder, Fibrax Ltd has invested in a Shini SG-50 sound-proof granulator that will process rubber waste generated at its manufacturing facility in Wrexham, North Wales.
The £20,000 (€22,000) investment in the granulation system for thermoset elastomers is part of a wider programme launched by the company to divert waste from landfill and third-party recyclers, Fibrax said 15 July.
The equipment will be used to produce “high quality” fine EPDM rubber granulate suitable for use in the sports and leisure industries.
“This investment will reduce our waste management costs and create products that will go directly back into the supply chain,” explained material technologist, Jonathan Coupe.
Fibrax also manufactures products using raw materials which incorporate post-consumer waste, according to Couple.
“By combining these processes into our recycling strategy, we hope to significantly reduce our outgoing waste via third parties,” he added.
The company, which has recently passed its latest ISO 14001 environmental audit, is now aiming to implement a similar waste management scheme with silicone scrap.
Fibrax is a manufacturer of rubber, TPE and plastic components, mainly supplying to the automotive industry.
