Trelleborg, Sweden – Trelleborg AB’s offshore operation has been awarded ‘a major multi-million-dollar’ contract by Mexican state-owned petroleum company, Pemex, for the supply of rubber-based pipeline systems.
The company will be supplying its corrosion-free Elastopipe flexible piping system on board the Abkatun A complex in the Bay of Campeche in the Gulf of Mexico, Trelleborg announced 3 July.
The “next generation piping system”, which uses synthetic rubber instead of traditional materials, is claimed to have explosion, impact and jet fire resistant properties.
The contract marks the largest deal for the Trelleborg rubber-based piping systems, according to Morten Kristensen, business group director at Trelleborg’s offshore facility in Norway.
