Chennai, India – Indian tire maker CEAT has reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Tamil Nadu to build a greenfield tire production plant in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai.
Quoting unnamed sources, Times of India reported 9 May that CEAT was planning to invest a total of INR40 billion (€512 million) in the plant, which will be built in two phases.
With production capacity of around 200-250 tonnes per day, the focus of the plant will be on radial passenger car tires, the report added.
