Stoke-on-Trent, UK – Michelin has appointed Jonathan Layton as national sales manager, UK and Republic of Ireland, for the services & solutions business line.
Layton, who has been with the company for almost two decades, will be heading a team of key account managers and reports to Andrew French, director of services & solutions.
He will oversee the standard of service across Michelin’s largest truck and van fleet customers, Michelin announced 20 May.
Layton has extensive industry knowledge and track record in sales, including a successful spell as regional sales manager for Michelin UK's truck tire division.
“I plan to be out there with my team as much as possible, keeping our loyal customers happy and winning new business,” said Layton upon taking the position.
Michelin, he said, is looking to grow its services & solutions portfolio to meet customers’ needs over the coming years.
The company's tire management solution, Effitires, is aimed at maximising fuel efficiency and simplifying administration of fleets.
An important part of Layton’s new role will be developing the growth of Michelin’s non-tire solutions.
These include trailer telematics system Effitrailer and the wheel security solutions created by Michelin-licensee Wheely-Safe.
Layton joined Michelin UK in 2000 as a key account manager in the car fleet sector and has since served in various sales management positions within the company.
Prior to joining Michelin, Layton spent a decade working in the materials handling sector.
He holds a degree in business and finance from the University of Southampton.
