Vitry-sur-Seine, France – The European community of PhD rubber students met in Paris earlier this month to discuss a varied range of topics within the industry.
The event was organised by LRCCP (Rubber and Plastics Research and Testing Laboratory) supported by the French Rubber Foundation.
Some 75 doctoral students, from 12 European institutes, took part in the 2019 edition of the community meeting which studies technical issues surrounding vulcanised rubbers and TPEs.
Subjects reviewed included using silica and nanofillers; mechanical and rheological modelling as well as the electrical and adhesion properties of rubbers.
The meeting also looked into the fatigue and ageing of elastomers as well as the synthesis of molecules and polymers.
Active since 2010, the PhD rubber community has been set up to highlight the importance of R&D in rubber materials and give networking opportunities to students and their professors.
The 2020 edition of the meeting will be organised in Austria by the polymer competence centre at the University of Leoben.
