Mitsubishi Chemical to add TPE capacity in India
Mumbai, India – Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. is planning to build a facility to manufacture thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) at its production site in Silvassa, eastern India.
The project is scheduled to come on-stream by the end of fiscal 2019, with products destined for the automotive interior market, Mitsubishi Chemical said 29 March.
The company is adding the unit at the site of the former Welset Plast Extrusions’ PVC compound business, which it acquired in March.
Mitsubishi Chemical currently outsources the manufacture of TPEs in India.
Post-acquisition, the Japanese materials supplier renamed the business MCPP India Private Ltd.
With the construction of the new facility, Mitsubishi Chemical said it will upgrade its performance polymer supply system.
Mumbai-based MCPP India manufactures TPEs for the automotive industry and supplies PVC compounds for the automotive and medical sectors.
