Hanover, Germany – Continental Corp. has received the ‘industrial energy efficiency award’ (IEEA) at the Hannover Messe 2019 for its silicone rubber-based insulation system.
Conti Thermo Protect (CTP) offers a flexible form of thermal insulation, particularly for complex line and piping systems as well as high-temperature hoses.
The silicone rubber compound can reduce thermal losses by 60% when applied as a 10mm layer, Continental said in a 2 April press release.
In its supplied state, the product has a consistency similar to modelling clay and is “easy to cut, manipulate, and apply in a precise manner.”
The material vulcanises when heat is added, to become a reusable moulded product with rubbery properties, said Continental.
This product, it added, is particularly suitable for complex, hard-to reach and winding/flexible components.
The material is also said to be self-adhesive, water-repellent, self-extinguishing, UV-resistant and weatherproof.
Hannover Messe 2019 is being held 1-5 April in the northern German city.
