UK polymer industry strongly against no-deal Brexit 

London - A large majority within the British polymer industry is opposed to a no-deal Brexit, according to a recent survey by the British Plastics Federation (BPF).

The poll which mirrored the MPs' ‘indicative votes’ in the House of Commons, showed that a 66% majority of BPF members were in favour of revoking Article 50 to avoid a no-deal situation.

The UK triggered Article 50 of the Treaty of the European Union in March 2017 to start the process of its departure from the EU.

Another pro-EU proposal, remaining within the customs union, also received 65% of votes in the BPF poll.

“This flash poll shows there is clearly a dominant view from our industry. The majority of BPF members clearly reject a no deal Brexit and would revoke article 50 to avoid it,” said BPF director general Philip Law.

Originally set for 29 March, UK’s departure has now been postponed to 12 April.

The UK government and MPs are yet to agree on a withdrawal deal from the European Union.
