Wilmington, Delaware – Renault Sport Racing and DuPont, the DowDuPont speciality products division, have entered a multi-year technical partnership to advance the Formula 1 and other racing programmes.
The collaboration will target new technologies, beginning with hybrid and electric powertrain solutions, DuPont announced 28 March.
Focus areas include structural adhesives for thermal management of batteries, and materials for power, infrastructure and signal electronics.
The partners will also seek to enhance the contribution of high-performance materials to lightweighting and fuel-efficiency of the racing cars.
DuPont also went on to cite the application of its Kevlar fibre in tire cords and F1 car bodywork.
The two companies then aim to extend the developed technologies to consumer and road-car applications.
Last year, DuPont launched its AHEAD (accelerating hybrid-electric autonomous driving) initiative.
The initiative, said DuPont, will play a “key role” in the technical partnership with the Renault F1 Team.
