Momentive working on network security “incident”

Waterford, New York – MPM Holdings Inc. (Momentive) has reported a “recent network security incident”, saying it is working on resuming normal operations “as quickly as possible.”

The incident “prevented access to certain information technology systems and data within the company’s network,” the silicone rubber supplier reported 22 March.

The company did not give further details on the time of the security breach, but said it took “immediate action” to contain the problem.

These measures included the implementation of a business continuity plan, according to Momentive’s statement.

The company is working closely with external cybersecurity experts to restore its affected information technology systems, it added.

According to Momentive, the incident has primarily impacted the company’s corporate functions.

Manufacturing processes, it said, rely on separate networks and have continued to operate “safely, largely without interruption, and in compliance with all environmental regulations.”

Momentive added that it had found no evidence that any customer, supplier or employee information was “accessed or exfiltrated” during the breach.
