Plymouth, Michigan – Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies has launched a new collaborative initiative designed to reduce the cost of manufacturing hydraulic cylinders.
Under its ‘perfect cylinder’ engineering and design approach, Freudenberg-NOK will work with customers to optimise the performance and lifespan of these products, the company said 5 March.
“We can substantially reduce cylinder costs,” said John Plut, director, fluid power partners, North America, Freudenberg-NOK.
This, he said, will be achieved by “collaborating at the engineering level to help create an enhanced system of cylinders and seals.”
As part of the programme, Freudenberg-NOK will work with cylinder distributors to reengineer components for hydraulic systems.
Once cylinders are re-engineered, they will paired with sealing products from Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST).
This, claimed Plut, can result in an optimised sealing solution as well as up to 40% of cost-saving in materials and production.
Freudenberg-NOK runs business operations for FST in the Americas.
