EU passenger car demand continues to fall in February

Brussels – The EU passenger car market contracted by 1.0% in February, compared to the same period last year, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
Demand for cars rose by 2.7% in Germany, 2.1% in France and 1.4% in the UK, ACEA reported 15 March.
Car registrations continued to decline for the sixth month in Spain and Italy at 8.8% and 2.4% rates respectively.
Over the first two months of the year, overall demand for new passenger cars fell 2.9% across the EU, with Spain registering the sharpest decline at 8.8% followed by Italy at 4.9%.
The market remained stable in Germany, France and the UK.
