Kassel, Germany – German automotive and industrial parts supplier Huebner Group is building an elastomeric products plant in in Dunlap, Tennessee, the company announced 7 March.
The US facility will manufacture parts including silicone seals and sealing systems for the US oil & gas industry as well as sensor-equipped rubber profiles for public transport industries.
Kassel-based Huebner said the facility will support a recent “major order” to supply systems for the New York subway.
Construction work is set to start at the Tennessee site “in coming weeks,” with production start-up scheduled for first quarter 2020.
Huebner said it aims to become “the worldwide market leader” for door sealing and safety systems in the railway and bus segments.
The German company claims to already have “the largest market share” for these segments throughout Europe.
"We want to be able to serve the strong growth in the American mobility market directly from here in the US," said Ingolf Cedra, general manager responsible for material solutions.
Huebner’s European customers, noted Cedra, have expanded into the US and need products of similar quality to that provided in Europe.
