Grapevine, Texas — Four years after rolling out an e-commerce tire-buying programme for consumer tires, Goodyear is launching a similar platform for commercial tires.
The Akron-based tire maker announced the launch of the commercial e-commerce programme at its Customer Conference, held 27-29 Jan at the Gaylord Texan resort in Grapevine.
The programme will allow US owner-operators and small fleets to buy Goodyear truck tires online.
They can then schedule installations at participating Goodyear commercial tire dealerships.
Goodyear will roll out the programme in three phases this year:
Q1, the official announcement as well as the opportunity for businesses to enrol as participating dealers;
Q2, launch of a pilot programme; and
Q3, full availability of the programme, accessed exclusively through a portal on Goodyear's commercial truck tire website,goodyeartrucktires.com.
"This is the next step in our evolution of our consumer e-commerce program," said Paul Green, a category manager.
The programme works much the same way as its consumer counterpart.
