Nokian to begin hiring at US tire plant

Dayton, Tennessee – Nokian Tyres plc has posted the "help wanted" sign outside of its tire plant in eastern Tennessee.

The Finnish tire maker, which is on target to complete construction of the $360 million (€316 million) plant later this year, is planning to hire up to 50 production employees during the first quarter of 2019.

In the first phase of the hiring process, Nokian said it is seeking skilled production workers, manufacturing operations professionals and maintenance technicians.

Opportunities are available in mixing; tire production; maintenance; and general factory overhead.

According to Peter Chia, Nokian factory operation director, the plant will be "one of the most advanced tire manufacturing facilities in the world.”

“We are committed to giving our workers everything they need to succeed, including in-depth training, competitive wages and a positive workplace culture," he added.

Nokian will begin producing tires at the Dayton factory in 2020.

It will hire and train approximately 150 by year-end 2019.

The plant is expected to employ around 400 at full capacity of 4 million tires per year.

The plant also will have a distribution facility on site capable of storing up to 600,000 tires.
