The talk, Mold, bladder, tooling and press management in smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0, will be given by FineLine vice president Jos Uijlenbroek at 11:20 a.m. on 5 March.
The presentation will explore how RFID technology can help achieve connectivity of tools through nearly all tire manufacturing processes.
Uijlenbroek will discuss the use of RFID to directly associate individual manufactured tires with the press, mould segment, bladder, dies and other tools used in tire manufacturing.
“[Around] 35% of overall tire quality is directly related to tool management, and yet it is one of the most difficult processes to master within the tire industry,” he said.
FineLine will also present its full range of RFID solutions - extended through acquisitions of Data2 and Ferm RFID over the last two years.
The company will highlight its “combined years of tire and ticketing industry knowledge and experience…,” said George Hoffman, chairman and CEO, FineLine Technologies.
The company’s stand will also feature on-site demos of smart tagging solutions that allow tire makers, retailers and retreaders to gather and store production data on each individual tire.
FineLine’s Green Tire RFID bead label has been nominated for a ‘tire technology of the year’ in this year’s TTE awards.
The label is applied when green tires are produced and can be scanned by existing barcode systems as well as RFID readers.
This combination of RFID and barcode-based bead labels gives manufacturers the flexibility to implement RFID step-by-step in a controlled manner, claims FineLine.
The technology, it said, “allows for automatic association between each unique tire and the tire-building machine materials, processes and operators.”
Green tires can, thereby, be tracked prior to vulcanisation, reducing the risk for them to be misplaced or sent to the wrong press.
