UK firm launches ‘Michelin TPMS’ for two-wheelers

Burntwood, UK – Technology firm Fit2Go TPMS has launched a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for motorcycles, mopeds and scooters, the company announced 28 Jan.

The system is branded ‘Michelin TPMS – Bike’, according to Fit2Go TPMS, which said it is a global licensee from the French tire maker.

The wireless retrofit kit has a magnetic display mount, inductive charger and two sensors, replacing the original valve caps, said the Burntwood, Staffordshire-based firm.

According to Fit2Go, the product brings the same “direct TPMS technology” for the passenger car and commercial vehicle markets to two-wheel vehicles.

Warnings show if a tire becomes under-inflated by 15%, when pressure either drops by 25% or when a tire is over-inflated by 35% or more.

“Our system continually monitors both tires and provides precise pressure readings,” said Gary Broadfield, Group Managing Director of Fit2Go TPMS.

Fit2Go claims the TPMS could “significantly reduce” the number of motorcycle accidents for which illegal, defective or under-inflated tires are a contributing factor.
