KraussMaffei says ‘working hard’ on cyber attack problem

Munich, Germany – Rubber & plastics machinery manufacturer KraussMaffei Group is still fighting a cyber attack which hit the company 21 Nov.

In a 7 Dec statement, the German company said it had “identified the problem” and was “working hard to eliminate it”.

“Production at the affected sites, including Munich [HQ], are being ramped up step-by-step and have also been restricted during the past two weeks,” said KraussMaffei.

The company added that most of its sites were not affected by the attack.

The Munich-based machinery supplier first flagged up the problem on 28 Nov, in a notification to its customers.

According to the note, company locations in Näfels (Netstal), Florence; US (Krauss-Maffei Corp.) and Hanover (KraussMaffei Berstorff) were not impacted.

During the investigation, the company shut down various servers as a precautionary measure, which meant that parts of the KraussMaffei Group had limited electronic access.

According to German news agency DPA, attackers have made a ransom demand to the group.
