Washington — Kumho Tire USA Inc. is recalling 1,773 Kumho Solus KH16 all-season grand touring tires, size P225/65R17, for possible belt separation under severe conditions.
The tires were manufactured between 26 March and 1 April 2017, at Kumho's plant in Macon, Georgia, the tire maker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Approximately 21% of the tires being recalled have the defect.
Kumho said an incorrect material was used during manufacturing. All the recalled tires bear the manufacturing code 1317, signifying that they were manufactured in the 13th week of 2017, it said.
Kumho describes the Solus KH16 as a tire developed for the drivers of sporty coupes and sedans, delivering a balance of noise comfort, ride comfort and handling performance, along with dry, wet and year-round traction, even in light snow.
