Yueyang, China – Sinopec has recently approved a hydrogenated styrenic thermoplastic elastomer (SEBS) project with 50 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) capacity by its subsidiary Baling Petrochemical in Yueyang, Hubei province.
The project will raise Baling Petrochemical’s total SEBS capacity to nearly 100ktpa and total thermoplastic rubber capacity to 400ktpa, said local government website.
The new facilities will adopt advanced technology that allows production of various product types at the same line, said the government website.
Currently over a quarter of Baling Petrochemical’s SEBS production is used to make solid tires in the bike-sharing sector, according to Sinopec’s website.
