Semperit launches energy-saving conveyor belt
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Vienna – Semperit Group has received its first bulk order for its newly-developed energy-saving conveyor belt, which it says is characterised by a new rubber compound.
Semperit said that through the use of this compound, developed by the company’s Semptertrans business, frictional drag of the conveyor belts can be reduced significantly compared to belt of conventional composition. The company claims that system operators can save up to 25 percent of the energy typically used in the operation of conveyor belts. It added that the potential energy savings are up to 45 million kW per year, depending on the workload and operating time.
The company will deliver some 30 km of conveyor belts to the Polish energy company PGE . This is the world largest single contract ever awarded energy-saving conveyor belt, Semperit claimed in a 25 Feb news release.
"The demand for raw materials is increasing worldwide, and with it the demand for our belts as part of an intelligent transport and logistics chain. The recent successes in Poland and Chile proved that we are well positioned with our innovative products " said Thomas Fahnemann, Chairman of the Semperit Group.
