Clifton, New Jersey – Harmony Elastomers of New Jersey has commercialised a range of advanced elastomers for polymer and rubber markets.
The unit also has developed ‘natural fibre’ elastomers with unique properties, said Arash Kiani president of Harmony – an offshoot of Clifton-based Compounding Engineering Solutions Inc. (CES).
The company is marketing the new materials under the Harmony trade name.
CES also offers toll compounding services to resin makers and to other compounders that want to tap into the firm’s expertise in producing thermoplastic elastomers, thermoplastic vulcanisates and temperature-sensitive materials, Kiani added.
Harmony’s product line includes blends of butyl rubber with polyethylene and polypropylene resins and a PP/cellulose blend.
Last year, Harmony announced that it was developing maleated PP and PE together with SKZ.DE of Germany. These products, it said, “utilise neural networks and inline sensors to make optimised products.”
Applications for Harmony materials include acoustical and vibration damping, construction adhesives, tire sealants and roof coatings. They also can be used in butyl tapes for architectural glazing, weatherproofing, automotive windshields and vacuum injection moulding.
Kiani founded CES in 1999 along with Fred Burbank. Both had extensive experience with extruder maker Krupp Werner & Pfleiderer Corp.
