Munich, Germany – Wacker AG has completed a €26-million expansion of production capacity for functional silicone fluids at its Burghausen site in Germany, the Munich-based chemicals company has announced.
The expansion came on stream in early January, and enables Wacker to meet its “rising global demand for speciality fluids and silicone emulsions,” said the company.
“At the Burghausen plant, the precursor siloxane and other raw materials are used to make specialised functional silicone fluids,” said Wacker.
The fluids, it added, are important starting materials for antifoam, impregnating and release agents and for additives for the construction, coatings and paper industries.
The expansion is increasing the plant’s total production capacity by around 70 percent.
